Depending on your insurance policy/plan, you may have a "co-pay" or "co-insurance" that is owed at the time of each appointment. For many plans, clients have a "deductible" which applies. This means that the client is responsible to pay a certain amount out-of-pocket (at a reduced contracted insurance rate) until they meet their personal deductible amount. Please contact your insurance plan for any questions about billing or coverage in general. In the event that a client receives a service and later learns that their insurance did not cover it (due to deductible or inactive policy), it is the client's responsibility to pay for any costs incurred.
Out-of-Network Benefits
In the event that you have an insurance plan which is not accepted, you may be able to bill your insurance company for partial to full reimbursement for therapy sessions. You can verify out of network benefits by calling the customer service hotline listed on the back of your insurance card. *It is required when using Out-of-Network benefits that services are paid for by the client at the time of service.* Jennifer can share a copy of a "superbill" which can then be mailed by the client to their insurance company for possible reimbursement (according to each individual plan).
Self-Pay Option
For some clients, it is preferred to pay for therapy out of pocket. This may be due to lack of insurance, having an insurance plan that is not accepted by Little Sparrow, or other personal reasons. Little Sparrow Counseling Services, LLC accepts payments from all major credit cards, checks, cash, or HSA (Health Savings Account). The following rates apply to Self-Pay clients:
Standard Out of Pocket Rates* for Sessions: Initial Intake Session (50-60 minutes) $200 During the first two appointments, Jennifer will collect information about your personal and family history, current symptoms, and concerns. This information is used to inform diagnosis and treatment goals.
Standard Therapy Sessions (40-55 minutes) $150-$175 Following your intake appointments, therapy sessions are a time to identify and work towards goals. Various approaches can be used to suit the client which can include person-centered therapy, creative therapies, animal assisted therapy, couple/family sessions, motivational interviewing and other therapeutic modalities.
Brief Therapy Sessions (20-35 minutes) $125 These sessions follow the same model as standard therapy sessions. A brief therapy session may suitable for those with schedule constraints, financial barriers, or transitioning to a maintenance phase towards discharge.
*Jennifer works on a limited sliding-scale for qualifying clients. If you think this may apply to you, please speak with Jennifer before your first session to discuss and apply an appropriate rate for your sessions.
Good Faith Estimate
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like psychotherapy, but also includes medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
A Good Faith Estimate should be available in writing at least 1 business day before your initial session whenever possible. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before/at the time when you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Late & Cancellation Policies
Please give yourself time to arrive 15 minutes early before our first session. Sometimes it can be tricky to find the right address and the suite within the building one is looking for. It is important to be prompt for each of your therapy sessions, as late arrival might result in losing session time. This is to respect the time of the clinician, as well as other clients who arrive for the following time slots.
If a client has not arrived for their in-person or tele-health appointment 15 minutes after their scheduled time, the session will be considered a missed visit and may result in a cancellation fee. If a session starts late at the fault of the therapist, Jennifer will either make up the time that day, or in subsequent sessions.
Little Sparrow Counseling Services, LLC has a 24-hour cancellation policy. This means that we reserve the right to bill you for a full session if not given 24 hours notice of cancellation. At your first session, you can indicate if you would like to opt in to receive email or text message reminders that arrive 48 hours prior to a scheduled session. Additionally, you can refer to the client portal to view future scheduled appointments. If it is possible, at the therapist's discretion, we can try to reschedule your appointment within that same week in lieu of charging a cancellation fee. Please note that this is not always a possibility, and it is important to not rely on this.
